First off is a visit to the beautiful village of Lefkara which is set on the southern slopes of the Troodos mountain range. There, one can visit the traditional artisan silverware shops and hand-crafted lace em- broidery shops which Lefkara is famous for. After- wards, the itinerary leads to Kykkos Monastery which is situated high in the Troodos Mountains. The mo- nastery is an impressive site and the most lavish mo- nastery on the island, housing one of St. Lukes three surviving icons: the icon of the Virgin Mary which was painted during the Virgins own lifetime.
Journeying on from here, the tour winds up at the highest point on the mountain-Mount Olympus-a place associated with the gods of Greek Mythology. Take in the expansive views of the green valleys, sloping forests, vineyards and small villages dotted around. The tour culminates in the wonderful village of Omodos which is renowned for its special sweet bread and other local specialties including the ery zivania drink and the sweet dessert wine, commandaria. On hand is the vintage wine press where wine tastings are on offer along with browsing the lace and silverware shops. Alternatively, one can visit the wonderful Timios Stavros Monastery of the Holy Cross and see its beautiful architecture.
