Discover the mysterious and unexplored territory of Akamas and the Avakas Gorge on the outskirts of Pa- phos. A stunning natural feature, a small river has cut a deep steep sided gorge through the rocks as water ows from its high limestone walls. If lucky enough, the rare Wallcreeper bird may be spotted there too. The place is perfect for hiking aswell. A short drive ends at Lara Bay which is one of the last breeding grounds for the large Green-Backed Turtles, now an endange- red species.
After an adventurous morning, there will be a well-deserved break for lunch and refreshments. Moving on towards the edge of the northern Penin- sula, there is a stop at the Baths of Aphrodite where, according to legend, Aphrodite bathed with her lover Adonis. Then the tour leads to Chrysochou Bay for a refreshing swim in the cool, tranquil water. The last stop will be at Skouli village where one may see an intriguing collection of endemic snakes and reptiles.
